Champions Trophy 2025: England beaten as Josh Inglis counters Ben Duckett in Australia win

England’s championship trophy bid began with Australia’s epic chase of 352 in 352 to counter Ben Duckett’s 165 in Lahore.

Opening Ducks bring England to 351-8 – Highest Score in Championship Trophy History – Josh Inglis missed 120 sensational 120 out of 86 balls to use five small Goals and 15 balls to complete the chase.

It was England’s highest score in one-day international competition as they got worse with an old opponent’s 136-4 record in one stage.

From there, Australia’s No. 5 was born and raised in Yorkshire, dragging into the game with Alex Carey with 146 in 116 goals.

Carey was dropped on 49 and was caught with 69 shots, including 51 goals, and Inglis was responsible.

He whipped England six-sixths – the third time put forward his first ODI century in 77 balls, the sixth seal was the highest successful chase in 50 matches around the world.

It’s even more complicated concern that England can’t make the most of its capital after 30 points on a 30-point batting distance – a surface that can only be improved under the light.

Jos Buttler’s England now has little room for fixtures in the final two group stages, and on Wednesday against South Africa if they are to be in the top two and reach the semi-finals.
