Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Operating Earnings Soar
Warren Buffett’s Hathaway (brk.a; bk.b) reported Saturday that operating revenue in the fourth quarter rose more than 70% year-on-year.
The group’s operating income was US$14.53 billion, up from US$8.48 billion a year ago. Berkshire’s total operating income in 2024 was $47.44 billion, up 27% from $37.35 billion the previous year.
“Berkshire performed better than I expected in 2024, although 53% of our 189 operations fell in revenue,” Buffett wrote in his annual letter to shareholders. “As Treasury yields increase, we are helped by predictable returns from predictable investment income, and we greatly increase our holdings in these highly liquid short-term securities.”
