The “wealth embarrassment” at the box office could pay for a $1.2 billion year IMAXCEO Rich Gelfond told CNBC on Friday.
The volume will mark the best box office transport for the company, which specializes in high-resolution cameras, movie formats, projectors and theaters.
“I think it’s going to be a very strong year,” Galford said in an interview with CNBC. “Crowd on the street.” “The first thing you do when driving is slate.”
Gelford points to several blockbuster titles to be released in the next 10 months, including the new “mission impossible”, a live-action “How to train your dragon movie” movie, and another “Jurassic Park”, which is “Zootopia” and “Zootopia” and “third “Avatar” versions.
Hollywood production issues result in less drama releases, and Ticket sales in 2024 are relatively small. Box office revenue fell 3.4% from 2023 to $8.74 billion. Slate in 2025 has already appeared stronger, with more records and larger franchise movies.
Helping IMAX’s lofty box office goal is China’s champion “NE ZHA 2”, which has earned $1.6 billion worldwide. This is the first movie to exceed $1 billion in a country. Gelfond noted that Imax accounted for $135 million of the total box office of the movie.
“We did more box offices in China in the first six weeks of this year than we did last year,” he said.
He added that the “NE ZHA 2” work “about $100 million a day” and IMAX accounts for about 13% of the movie’s box office receipts.
