Rangers face either Bodo/Glimt or Fenerbahce in Europa League
Although Luis Vazquez’s doubles gave Anderlecht a silver lining after the game resumed, Yusuf Akcicek’s header secured Muri Mourinho’s team avoided defeat.
Meanwhile, Bodo/Glimt and Twente took the game of loans to Celtic Celtic center Gustaf Lagerbielke in the starting lineup, and the Norwegian champions won the exciting 5-2 victory that night during downtime.
Dutch visitors expanded their first leg advantage with Fredrik Sjovold’s first half goal, then Kasper Hogh’s second half free throws were reduced deficit.
Bodo/Glimt seems to be out, but Mees Hilger’s goal in the increased time keeps them level overall.
Brice Wembangomo then took them ahead just to work hard in the sixth minute of adding time, sending the draw to overtime.
Sondre Fet hit Bodo/Glimt in the 111th minute, then Arno Verschueren’s own goal – the third of the match – the Norwegian’s victory.
Friday’s draw will determine whether Bodo/Glimt or Fenerbahce faces the Greek Rangers or the Olympics.
The first leg will be performed on April 10 and a second leg a week later.
Bodo/Glimt once faced the opposition in Scotland and beat the Celtics home with a total victory of 5-1 in the Europa League playoffs three years ago.
Fenerbahce joined the Celtics’ Homeland in the 2015 Europa League group stage and beat the Rangers 2-1 in the third round of the Champions League qualifying match in the 2001 Champions League.
If rangers compete with Bodo/Glimt, they will have a chance to reach the quarterfinals, involving Viktoria Plzen of the Czech Republic against Lazio or Athletic Bilboa.
If they are attracted by Fenerbahce, the winner of that tie will face Rome or Lazio/Sports bilboa.
