Delta Work: Cheltenham winner dies aged 12

He also finished second in the 2024 Great Nationals at the age of 12, working in the Delta.

The horse, owned by Gigginstown House and trained by Gordon Elliot, died after colic.

Delta Work made its first success in Cheltenham in the 2018 Pertemps final, ahead of back-to-back wins at Glenfarclas Chase in 2022 and 2023.

In addition to five first-year wins, Delta’s job ranks third among the Big Nationals in 2022 and two years later.

“He’s an incredible horse and we’re very, very lucky and proud to have him and connect with him,” said Eddie O’Leary of Gerkinston.

“He’s smart to Gordon, and Gordon is great to him. He’s so versatile, so honest and voice.”
