President Donald Trump said he could expand U.S. tariffs on imports, including automobiles, pharmaceuticals and semiconductors.
In a speech to reporters on Tuesday, Trump said the responsibilities would be about 25%, and “there is much higher in the year.” The president has not stated whether the new tariffs apply to all vehicles entering the U.S. or to all vehicles targeting certain countries, but they say they can start as early as April 2.
However, the threat represents an expansion of the government’s aggressive trade policy, which already includes a 25% tariff on steel and aluminum imports, which will take effect in March.
The largest exporters of the United States are Mexico, Japan and Canada.
Trump says tariffs have achieved the expected results, and companies live overseas and hope to return to the United States
In medicine, the country believes that the biggest impact may be Japan and India. On semiconductors, Trump has not indicated when it happened. These levies will affect Taiwan Semiconductor, which provides bargaining chips for companies such as Nvidia and Apple.
