Tiger Woods: TGL yardage mix-up ‘one of the most embarrassing moments’ of US golf legend’s career
Tiger Woods describes a yardage mix that makes the laughter of TGL teammates Kevin Kisner and Tom Kim “the most embarrassing moment of my golf career” one”.
The 49-year-old played for Jupiter Links in a partial virtual indoor tournament, dropping himself to 199 yards for the 13th time after his tee shot.
However, the mix between Woods and his caddies meant that the 15-time main champion chose a wedge to hit his next 99 yards-making him short 100 yards.
A confused wood immediately searched for his caddie while teammates Kisner and Kim rolled on the floor.
Woods hears his caddies say “99”, but when they think the yardage is obvious, the caddies usually drop the first number.
“One of the most embarrassing moments of my golf career just happened,” Woods said.
“I just screwed it up. It’s awkward.”
The mix came when Jupiter’s link was beaten 10-3 by the New York Golf Club.
This is Woods’ first appearance since the death of his mother Kultida on February 4.
Woods’s 16-year-old son Charlie accompanied him at Tuesday’s event at the Sophie Center in California.
On January 27, Kultida Woods watched her son’s last game in the same arena.
