Ugandan Athlete Sets New Half-Marathon World Record in Barcelona Race

Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first athlete to rank under 57 minutes in a half marathon. In near-perfect conditions at 13°C, the 24-year-old recorded an astonishing time of 56:42 in the match in Barcelona without wind. The performance cut 48 seconds previously set by Ethiopia’s Yomif Kejelcha’s previous record of 57:30 in October, marking the biggest single-game progress in the history of the men’s half-marathon. Two-time World Off-Road Champion Kiplimo also set the best time in the world for the 15km Mark Mark 39:47 in his record. While reflecting on his unexpected achievements, Kiplimo expressed surprise to maintain this speed. After his debut at the age of 15, he continued to consolidate his position as one of Long-thistance Running’s brightest stars.
