White South Africans Rally in Support of Trump’s Anti-expropriation Stance

Dozens of white South Africans, many from the Afrikaan community, gather outside the U.S. Embassy in Pretoria to show solidarity with President Donald Trump. Protesters claim they are victims of racism. They also criticized South Africa’s new land acquisition laws and existing affirmative action policies, which they believe discriminate against white minorities. Trump recently issued an executive order to Pretoria, accusing Afrikaans of being the goal of a new law that allows the government to requisition private land without compensation. However, the South African government denied any race-based legal motives, stressing that no land was taken. Pretoria also noted that the law seeks to correct only the centuries that affected the black majority.
