Netflix moves afterparty after Chiltern Firehouse fire
Netflix was forced to move its BAFTA Movie Awards after the original venue was evacuated due to a fire.
Dozens of firefighters spent more than five time to solve Fire at Chiltern Fire Station on Fridaya five-star hotel in Marybonn, central London.
The streaming giant will now hold an event at a luxury hotel in Mayfair, London on Sunday night.
The fire was investigated, causing 100 guests to evacuate. The London Fire Brigade (LFB) said no injuries were reported, but the venue will remain closed until further notice.
The BAFTA Film Awards will be held at London’s Royal Hall on Sunday.
The Pope chose theatre conference to lead 12 nominations in the BAFTA field, followed by the Barbarians and Anora’s Emilia Pérez.
After the ceremony, the ceremony, hosted by David Tennant, actors, producers, directors and others, will flock to many autumns around the capital.
The main BAFTA party will be held in the South Bank Center.
But Netflix is hosting its own party to recognize its talents. American media companies have multiple nominations, including the Spanish musical Emilia Pérez.
It plans to hold events in Chiltern Firehouse – a famous celebrity hotspot, which has previously hosted A-Listers including Dua Lipa, Lady Gaga, Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp.
But the hotel owner Andre Balazs said the venue will “stay closed until” after the fire on Friday.
He added: “We are pleased to confirm that no one was injured and our guests and staff were safely evacuated.”
Firefighters from Euston, Soho, Paddington, West Hampstead, Kensington, Chelsea and the surrounding fire department were first called before GMT before 15:00, first called on social media, showing firefighters on social media Swallowing flames on top of the building.
The fire began with pipes and spread from the ground floor to the roof of the four-story hotel and was under control soon after 20:00, the fire department said.
The reason is under investigation.
Located on Chiltern Street, the hotel occupies the ruins of the Victorian Fire Department built in 1889.
Chiltern Firehouse opened in 2013 and is a 26-set hotel and 200-seater restaurant.
