Luxembourg 2-2 Northern Ireland: ‘Little lessons’ as O’Neill’s side let lead slip
Despite needing just a draw in Luxembourg to advance, O’Neill said victory was the only thing on his team’s mind heading into their final game in Nations League Group C3.
The game started well, with Price receiving a pass from Shay Charles in the 19th minute and Bradley scoring another goal with a header after the restart.
Northern Ireland had chances to extend their advantage but were shocked when Korac scored in the 72nd minute and Rodriguez equalized brilliantly in the final 15 minutes.
O’Neill added there were “some lessons learned” after two quick goals stunned Northern Ireland.
“The opponent scored from set pieces and then gave them some energy,” O’Neill added.
“Their second goal was a fantastic strike and all of a sudden it was 2-2 but the game never looked like it was going like this.
“The score may not be a fair reflection of the game but the opponents deserve credit.”
