Avowed Review: a Wondrous Adventure That’s Missing Just a Little Magic
Avowed is the latest game for its RPG Masters of RPG, a hit game owned by Microsoft like “The Outer World”, “Eternal Ambience and Pillars”. The team once again created an open-world RPG that seemed to hit all the important aspects that make up the huge role-playing experience, but I can’t help feeling that the formula is still missing something.
The game takes place in the same world as Obsidian Entertainment’s 2015 hot fantasy game pillars, which itself is the spiritual successor to the old Baudel’s boarding game. During the announcement process, the player enters a godlike character, and a person’s soul is blessed by Ella’s gods. This blessing is the source of your character’s fantastic look and power. You are sent by the mighty Emperor of the Aidir Empire, as his envoy, to investigate the mysterious dreams that are spreading throughout the land – a vast area full of mysterious and wonderful environments.
Despite the lot of freedom in character creation and combat, the dynamics are engaging, Avowed’s big ambitions are stopped by a story and some incredible bugs. It’s a joy to experience the huge world of the game, but without a powerful narrative, I lost interest – a shame considering the popular games with Obsidian resume.
Still, from the game outside of the story, I still have enough games to start with the many ways you can make and develop characters.

Create your own god: Be the person you want, fight the way you want
Since Avowed is an open world RPG, how your character develops is very important to the game, and it all starts with the creation of the player. Being a god means your character will adorn their faces with this brightly colored lichen, a colorful lichen difference that ranges from the color around your eyes like a masquerade mask to the prismatic crown on your head. After you figure out how the character looks, then select their background, which only offers some unique dialogue choices and your starting weapon. Then, you need to figure out the statistics you want to focus on: it may cause more damage and carry more items; the constitution increases health and resistance; agility determines your attack and movement speed; perception increases critical hit chances and scope Distance; intelligence increases the nature of your resistance to magic and magic; determination will give you more stamina and allow you to recover from deadly attacks faster to return to battle.
From this point on, your role development really depends on you, because there is nothing to stop you from playing the role you want. If you are tired of being a glass cannon magic user who can’t hit a lot of hits, you can reset your stats and become a powerful fighter with excellent axes and board decks. Get level statistics to increase and unlock unique abilities, such as gaining more spells, an unarmed expert to create monks, or the ability to unveil powerful sneak attacks.
I started with the traditional fighter lesson, but then noticed that magic works easily – it’s just a matter of equipting grey arcane debris. Then I discovered the Iron Fist ability, which caused my character to deal significant damage to the enemy with just my fists. However, I still wanted to keep my defense, so I equipped my shield. Eventually, I came across a unique pistol and decided to combine it with magic to cause significant damage to me from afar, and when the enemy approached, I could switch to my mace, shield to put out their attacks while using strike The attack on them shocked them. The convenience of going from one play style to another makes it fun to avoid playing.
As for combat, Avowed has default settings for playing in first-person mode, similar to Skyrim or Aldout, but is available in third-person view. The battle is dynamic and full of movements. Enemies usually drive you into a group at alerts, and this battle can be challenging if you are anxious to play and don’t routinely buy new equipment. You can use weapons, magic, and rolls, such as grenades, to deal extra damage. Since you can switch weapons so quickly in combat, I decided to keep the shield to defend against attacks as well as Parri enemies to increase the coma meter it found under the health stick. Once this is filled, the shocked enemy will open up a special attack that deals huge damage – it’s just one way to fight.
Explore the land of living, bugs and all
The companions you meet throughout the game are with you. Kai can help you defend against attacks on you, Marius is a scout who will attack from afar, Giatta, Giatta and the wizard Yatzli ( Wizard Yatzli) deals more damage to the enemy. They act alone in battle, but you can order them to release certain attacks and abilities in battle. These companions appear throughout the game at once and they have their own stories that develop as you grow.
Your companions will provide some great help in the battle.
Traveling on the land of residence is itself a candy. The world is so beautiful, it feels alive. The first hub of your trip is paradise, and like RPG, there are a lot of people who need help. When you work through the main quest line, you need to help them get some money, items or experience points, which will require you to travel to different parts of the land of your life. What I like when playing is the reward you get for exploring. Whether it’s a fall or a dungeon, there are treasures in the world if you can find it. However, this big world does lead to a flaw in the game, which is the bug.
Itsidian Entertainment released the off-road vehicle game at the time of its launch, and the announcement was no exception. From tasks I have encountered several different problems, from seeing the task items correctly marked on the map to the NPC, not accepting the task items they completed to the task items needed for other weird continuity errors. There are occasionally graphics issues, such as when I explore the dungeon, there are entire black blank walls but with ornaments. Obsidian says different bugs will be solved with patches when the game starts, but that’s a very wary thing, especially for PC gamers (I play on Xbox Series X), who have all kinds of hardware available, not It should be surprised if the game cannot play normally on the day of release.
While I can ignore these errors because they don’t stop my progress, my biggest complaint about the game is the story. It started to be strong, with an early game narrative choice that stuck me to TV, but the story fell behind. In the game, I feel like I’m just completing the task to get further into the game, not because I really want to see how the story goes. That is, I did not play the eternal pillar, I am sure the conversation proved The game’s subredditfor those who play games to learn about this magical world, there is a lot of excitement. Those with this experience may be excited about the various references in my mind.
I was also surprised that there was a lack of a virtue system to determine that you were doing good and evil. There are a variety of dialogue options when talking to an NPC, from benefits to neutral to assholes, and in some cases you can choose to attack the person you talk to (if it makes sense in the task line), for example how to track a thief. However, it is still not the real consequence for my actions. I can rob anything I don’t punish, the worst “evil” dialogue choice is my peers commented that what I’m doing is stupid, if I did do it in a mission that irritated Quest of Quest giver Decided, that would only end the mission as early as possible even if I received a considerable reward in the task line earlier, even if I received a considerable reward on the task line. Surprisingly, RPGs from Obsidian Entertainment seem to have few consequences.
Avoid having everything I want in an epic open world RPG except that steady narrative flow. I hope the RPG I am playing attracts my story and lets me play the gameplay. When one of these elements is missing, the game feels like a tedious thing for a long time.
Avowed will release PC and Xbox series consoles on February 18 for $70. Game Pass subscribers are available on the first day.
