Welsh Open: Mark Williams, Mark Allen and Neil Robertson among big names knocked out

Three-time World Champion Mark Williams entered the 2025 Welsh Open after Stephen Maguire’s second round defeat of 4-2.

Williams, two-time Welsh Open champion, lost two frames in the 2-2 level.

But for two and a half centuries off from Maguire in Scotland, he took his place in the third round of the field Cymru in Llandudno.

Williams wasn’t the only former world champion in the second round as Neil Robertson lost the decisive framework against Tom Ford.

Ford will face Jackson Page in the third round after the Welshpreet Singh Chadha 4-2 in the Welshpreet Singh Chadha on Wednesday morning meeting.

The 23-year-old Page, along with him, reached his best Welsh public performance when he was only 15 in 2017.

Another major shock Wednesday afternoon sent Northern Ireland’s Mark Allen defeating China’s New Year’s Day.

Allen led 2-1 but beat Nanchang’s 24-year-old in the final frame.

Sijun will face four-time world champion John Higgins in the third round.

Higgins breezes in the morning game against Robert Milkins, breaking through more than 50 times in four consecutive frames to win 4-0.
