Tottenham Hotspur’s visit to the Emirates Stadium has sold more than 50,000 tickets. Arsenal ranked third in the women’s Premier League, 10 points behind Chelsea in the remaining nine games, while the Spurs ranked sixth and 10 points behind.
Mead said there is increasing competition between the two sides.
“History does not exist completely, but it is full of vitality and competitiveness is beginning to build,” Mead said.
“Obviously, men’s games have been around for a long time and now we are working on building our own history.”
Despite refusing to give up winning the WSL championship, Mead said priorities for the season are entering the Champions League.
“Now, that’s our ultimate goal,” she added.
