The incident shocked the whole country when a teacher stabbed an eight-year-old girl in a primary school in South Korea.
Police said the female teacher, in her 40s, admitted to stabbing students in the metropolitan central city.
On Monday, the girl was found stabbed and pronounced dead at the hospital on the second floor of a school building at 18:00 local time (09:00 GMT). The teacher was next to her and stabbed the policeman and said it might have been self-harm.
South Korea’s acting president Choi ordered an investigation into the case on Tuesday and urged authorities to “take the necessary measures to ensure that such incidents never happen again.”
Some locals laid flowers and a plush doll on the school gates, which were closed on Tuesday.
The Avenue Education Office said the teacher asked for a six-month absence holiday because on December 9, after she returned to school 20 days later, a doctor assessed her suitability for work.
Authorities said she had no relationship with the students.
They said that the teacher showed violence a few days before the stabbing, including placing another teacher in a head lock.
Two officials from the Education Bureau visited the school on the morning of the stabbing to investigate the dispute.

The bus driver reportedly told the school she had not arrived that day after the student disappeared Monday night.
Police also said they will continue to ask the teacher after recovering from the operation.
After the attack on colleagues, the Education Bureau recommended that the teacher take a leave and separate from another teacher.
She was seated at the vice-principal’s desk so that she could keep an eye on it.
The official said she has not taken any courses since she was on leave in December and has no contact with the eight-year-old student.
South Korea is a universally safe country with strict gun laws. But in recent years, it has dealt with several high-profile crimes, including stabbing.
Acting President Choi said: “It hurts me to see such an incident because a school should be the safest space for us.” “I express my deep condolences to the families of the victims, their shock and pain.”
