Darge took his game to new heights after playing the starring role in Scotland’s victory over Italy, and he was determined to provide the Lions with a coveted back berth in the conversation.
“He’s an athlete, that guy,” said former Welsh and Lions captain Warburton.
“He was injured, which might be a little blessed because it just gave him an extra few kilograms.
“It doesn’t sound like a lot, but it can help you dominate on a large scale at the international level.
“Darge spread a little bit and he looked like a Lions player.”
Lions head coach Andy Farrell has few lacking quality back-row options, and Darge will need more performances in six countries to push his case from the week The day begins against Ireland.
“There’s a lot of competition out there,” Brown said.
“You have Jac Morgan of Wales, and obviously you provide the Curry Brothers for Josh van der Flier of Ireland.
“Dag is so good, six to seven. He’s good at suits. He’s just a beast.
“I think he’s the one you get into the lion environment and then you actually just see how good he is because every time he’s asked to go to a new challenge, he does it.
“He will be on my Lions.”
