Nathan Lyon takes 550th Test wicket as Australia dominate against Sri Lanka
Nathan Lyon of the Australian outside world passed 550 test wickets as he helped his team in Sri Lanka’s second test.
Visitors started the third day from 330-3 and hit the ball with a 414 shot, with Alex Carey scoring 156 and Steve Smith 131.
Prabath Jayasuriya took the first inning lead of 157 with a 5-151 lead.
Sri Lanka’s second inning started a disappointing start as Matthew Kuhnemann dismissed two openers including Dimuth Karunaratne.
Karunaratne played in his final inning and came out after scoring 14 points.
The master was then lowered to 39-3, and Lyon’s dismissal of Chandimar gave him the 550th Test wicket.
The 37-year-old began his exam career in Galle in 2011, after becoming Shane Warne (708) and Glenn McGrath (563), The third Australian reached a milestone.
Angelo Mathews raised the main resistance around him, but was another Lyon victim when Beau Webster, 76, was on standby.
Kusal Mendis reached 48 as Sri Lanka reached 211-8 at the end of the game, leading 54 with two seconds left.
Australia took a 1-0 series lead in two Test matches after a compelling victory in the opener.
