1992 shooting of IRA men was ‘unjustified’ says inquest
The investigation ruled that SAS soldiers used deadly force when they opened fire and killed four IRA men in an ambush in Clonoe, Tyrone County.
Kevin Barry O’Donnell, 21, Sean O’Farrell, 23, Peter Clancy, 19, and Daniel Vincent, 20, died in February 1992, and carried out a gun attack on the coal mine police station.
When the man arrived at the parking lot of St. Patrick’s Church with a hijacked van, soldiers opened fire, which was loaded with a heavy machine gun.
The security forces have intelligence and will use the parking lot, while 12 soldiers are behind the hedge.
When the vans drove, they fired without warning – more than 500 rounds were fired.
