Marcus Stoinis: Australia all-rounder retires from one-day internationals
Retirement further undermines the preparations for the Australian Champions League trophy.
Captain Pat Cummins, bowler Josh Hazlewood and all-around and vice captain Mitchell Marsh were both excluded from injuries.
Australia must complete their roster by February 12. Steve Smith and Travis Head are considered captain choices for the game that will begin on February 19.
Leg spinner Tanveer Sangha, all-around Sean Abbott and Cooper Connolly, batsman Jake Fraser-McGurk and left military men Ben Dwarshuis and Spencer Johnson add two ODIs to the team next week and play Sri Lanka twice next week ODI.
Stoinis will continue to supply the T20 in Australia, with 71 ODIs after his debut in 2015.
His average score was 1,495, with an average of 26.69, and his high score against New Zealand in 2017 was no more than 146, his only international century.
He also took 48 wickets.
“Playing ODI cricket in Australia has been an incredible journey and I am so grateful for every moment I have spent in the green and gold,” Stonis said.
“I will always cherish the highest level of my country.”
