Nicole Moyo Celebrates African Heritage with ‘Pearl Jam’ Installation at Design Miami
Nicole Nomsa Moyo is a designed INDABA alumni and designed Design Miami in Miami to announce the champion of the 10th Miami Design District Committee. The device celebrates African heritage, femininity and cultural expression, inspired by NDEBELE Art. Moyo’s large -scale sculptures include jewelry -like works, such as bracelets, necklaces and earrings made of aluminum, and are decorated with traditional beads. More than 100,000 beads were used, and the fragments range ranging from 15 cm to 2 meters. The pearl jam is made by the NDEBELE female craftsman. It re -imagines the cultural tradition as a commemorative sculpture, integrates heritage with contemporary design, and celebrates women’s role in preserving culture.
