Lionesses become TfL station announcers for ‘historic’ weekend
Fans will hear special radio announcements from some of their favorite Lionesses as they travel through London for a “historic weekend” for the women’s game.
The announcement will be made by England women’s players Alex Greenwood, Bethany England, Lott Ubben-Moy and Lucy Bronze.
The games will be played at Fulham Broadway, Seven Sisters and White Hart Lane for the first time. Barclays Women’s Premier League and Barclays Women’s Championship It will be played in major stadiums.
Deputy Mayor for Transport Seb Dance said: “I hope fans enjoy this special weekend and reflect on how women’s football continues to thrive, inspire and unite communities.”
Dance added that he was “excited” that Transport for London (TfL) had partnered with the Barclays Women’s Premier League “to celebrate a historic weekend for women’s football.”
Tottenham Hotspur face city rivals Arsenal at White Hart Lane on Saturday, while Chelsea face Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.
Whiteboard messages on TfL’s network will also highlight these games, as well as upcoming ones London Overground Lioness Lineruns between Watford Junction and Euston.
The line runs through Wembley and pays homage to England’s most successful senior football team since 1966.
