Sniper Elite: Resistance review: more of the same, and that’s great
when Sniper Elite 5 With its release back in 2022, it feels like Rebellion has finally nailed its World War II stealth sim. Apparently the team feels the same way Sniper Elite: Resistance More is Sniper Elite 5.
This time, the responsibility was handed over to Carl’s long-time associate Harry Hawker, who also happened to be serving a mission in France in 1944. Although it feels a bit like an expansion pack, Sniper Elite: Resistance is a mature title with more to do than the previous game.

in typical Sniper Elite Fashion, resist Follows the familiar plot: “The Nazis develop a new superweapon that could turn the tide of World War II; you have to stop it, as we’ve previously seen in Sniper Elite 3 and 5.
This time, Harry is working with local resistance fighters to eliminate the Klein Bloom nerve agent, which could have devastating effects if the Germans continued to do so. It’s a somewhat predictable storyline, but that’s not really why you’re here.
exist Sniper Elite You play a series of games through missions, each containing its own miniature open world or sandbox with specific objectives and hidden secrets for you to use at your leisure. I really like this approach from the previous entry, and it works in Sniper Elite: Resistance.
One concern I had going in was whether the levels would feel too similar. Sniper Elite 5 Since both games are set in France in 1944, for the most part, though, the feel of things is clear enough to be worth returning to. While some of the stages are a bit familiar, the game’s “Lock, Stock, and Barrel” missions feel remarkably similar to the previous title’s “Occupied Residence.”
In addition, there are familiar areas such as the castle villa and the train station, not only from 5 However, it appears multiple times in the game. It’s not a deal-breaker by any means, and the levels themselves are still packed and varied (with the exception of the fourth level, which is just an expanded version of the first).
we bring prosperity
Of course, there are shootouts. As you’d expect from a series named after it, sniping is once again the star of the show. There are tons of useful features – like slowdown reticles that show where bullets will land – allowing even first-time players to make satisfying long-range shots.
This is supplemented by an X-ray system that shows slow-motion animations of bullets impacting a Nazi of your choice, giving you insight into how your shots are destroying their skulls, guts, or testicles. Graphic details. It can be a little off-putting at times (the teeth animation is scary), but it’s enough that it’s not unnerving.
However, the most impressive and satisfying thing is that Sniper Elite That’s when you ignore that and use the windage markers and bullet drop estimates built into the scope to pull off the perfect shot yourself. You can also use weapons like machine guns, pistols, and explosive weapons to cause trouble or get you out of trouble when things go wrong. You can definitely run around with a machine gun, but the non-sniper weapons aren’t as satisfying as the main event.
I’m also a big fan of close quarters combat. Being able to sneak up on an enemy and take them down is a huge risk/reward that allows you to remain silent while risking your way up to an enemy. Sniper Elite: Resistance is a great sniper game, but could be better as a stealth game.
spies vs espionage
There are several multiplayer modes to choose from Sniper Elite: Resistance, Includes wave survival mode and standard multiplayer modes such as “Free For All” and “Team Deathmatch”. However, I was unable to find these matches during the review period, and there was no bot matching option available.
But I did get a few games that returned to the Axis invasion mode, which allows you to invade or be invaded in single-player. Once a pop-up warns you that a sniper has arrived, it immediately changes the tone of the mission. While you can attempt to complete your objectives as normal, the added tension may allow snipers to attack you, or inadvertently alert them to existing enemies as you search for them.
Both sides of this mode are the absolute highlight of the game; the introduction of one-on-one cat and mouse is a satisfying addition and a complete game-changer. There’s nothing better than being able to outrun your opponent and take them out with a well-placed snipe or sneak up on them for a close-quarter takedown.
There is publicity
Scattered all over the map Sniper Elite: Resistance A propaganda poster for French resistance fighters. Collecting these in each map will unlock new missions set within that map in the new Promotional Challenge Mode.
These are small arcade-style encounters that challenge your skills in various departments of the game to take down large numbers of enemies within a limited time.
There’s also stealth – armed with just a pistol and a dream – unseen knockdowns add time to your clock. The sniper challenge lets you sweep across the map and eliminate enemies one by one, adding time to each headshot.
the best bit
Axis Invasion remains the greatest addition to the series. Invading or being invaded by other players in a mission is always a treat, and multiplayer stealth and sniper combat are incredibly satisfying, especially when you can sneak in headshots.
While these only last a few minutes and are only available in the game’s seven missions, the hype challenge mode is a great new feature. it gives me the same feeling resident EvilMercenaries mode does this.
Running through a level and planning the best route adds extra replayability, as your goal is to improve your score each time. I’d love to see this mode expanded, whether it’s through DLC (downloadable content) or whatever the next game is, because it leaves me wanting more.
I play Sniper Elite: Resistance at 1440p/120fps high dynamic range on the computer. Texture details are set to “Ultra” and other options are set to “Medium”. The game itself runs perfectly, with only a few noticeable hiccups.
However, in my experience, there are some minor issues. On several occasions Harry would get stuck on stairs or ledges. One particularly annoying thing was that during one mission I was given the option to poison a target; however, the prompt to use the poison in his drink never appeared, preventing me from getting the bonus kill option for that mission.

Accessibility
Sniper Elite: Resistance Features many accessibility features, including subtitle options, autorun and climb, HUD opacity settings, and aim assist. The game also features settings such as adjustable difficulty and automatic skill upgrades.
Subtitle color can be adjusted, and there are three settings for color blindness; however, they are just labeled 1, 2, and 3 rather than listing the name of the specific color blindness. However, there is a chart to help you decide.
How do I rate Sniper Elite: Resistance?
I played for about 15 hours Sniper Elite: Resistance. During this time, I completed the main campaign, completed every Promotional Challenge Mode mission with a Gold rating, and played several rounds of Axis Invasion as an attacker.
I reviewed this game on a gaming pcwhich runs with Nvidia RTX 3060Ti graphics card and a AMD Ryzen 7 5800X Processor. I used one Samsung Odyssey G5 27-inch Curved Gaming Monitor with Sony 3D Pulse Headphones and play games using one DualSense Wireless Controller.
The first review will be in January 2025
