6th Regular Meeting of the National Confederation of Eritrean Workers
The National Federation of Eritrean Workers held its sixth regular meeting in Massawa on January 23. The theme of the meeting was “Always Ready for Development.”
During the meeting, the activity report made by Mr. Kibreab Kidane, Deputy Secretary-General of the Federation, was extensively discussed. An action plan for 2025 was also adopted.
The report said the federation organized more than 200 seminars and meetings focusing on the role of workers in nation-building, Eritrea’s human and natural resources, the importance of strengthening workers’ organizations, and the history and engagement and resilience of Eritrean workers in the national struggle. .
Regarding women’s issues, the report noted that training on labor and workplace matters was carried out in the Central Red Sea, Anseba, North and South regions. In cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, vocational training was provided to approximately 100 young people from the northern and southern Red Sea regions. In addition, more than 700 workers have received skills training in crafts, tourism, computer technology, networking, poultry farming, beekeeping and other skills at the Massawa Vocational Training Center.
In terms of external relations, the Federation participated in various meetings and conferences, both in person and virtually. It has also held discussions with representatives of various associations and continues to work on new partnerships.
