National Basketball Association (NBA) Africa and University Mohammed VI Polytechnic Launch New Youth Basketball Initiative in Morocco, Through EVOSPORT
NBA Africa (www.nba.com) and the University, through its subsidiary Evosport University Mohamed VI Polytechnic (UM6P), today announced a new collaboration to support youth basketball in Morocco. The partnership marks the most extensive youth basketball development program ever launched in Morocco, making UM6P an official partner of NBA Africa.
UM6P is a Moroccan university dedicated to developing solutions to specific continental and wider global challenges. The university engages in economic and human development and puts innovation at the forefront of Africa’s growth. In line with this vision, UM6P has launched Evosport, a subsidiary dedicated to sports development, as part of its ambition to create a dynamic and sustainable Moroccan and African sports ecosystem.
The collaboration between NBA Africa and UM6P will be implemented by Evosport in partnership with ACT4-Community, part of the OCP Group ecosystem. Together they will open four minor leagues that will reach nearly 2,000 18-year-old boys and girls each year in Khouribga, Gantour, Laayoune and El Jadida, as well as Morocco’s first NBA Basketball Schools in all four locations. More than 200 local coaches will also participate in Little NBA coaching workshops in each city.

“Through our previous initiatives in Morocco, we have witnessed first-hand the passionate passion for basketball across the country,” said Akamanzi. “With UM6P and ahead of the first BAL game in Morrocco in April, we look forward to significantly expanding our presence in The country’s youth basketball development efforts and provide opportunities for thousands of Moroccan youths to learn and play the game.”

As a key component of the OCP Group’s ecosystem, UM6P significantly contributes to the Group’s long-term commitment to the development of sports in Morocco. The partnership with NBA Africa supports the ACT4 community program targeting young people and reflects OCP Group’s corporate social responsibility, which aims to achieve sustainable and tangible improvements in living standards through job creation, entrepreneurship, culture and sport.
The announcement builds on previous collaborations between NBA Africa and OCP Group, which saw previous NBA league appearances in the cities of Benguerir and Khouribga. To date, NBA Africa has reached more than 100,000 Moroccan youth and coaches through youth basketball development programs.
