Bills at Chiefs prediction: Buffalo can win at Kansas City if they keep Patrick Mahomes off the field, says Phoebe Schecter
This NFC Championship game will be very interesting because the last time these two teams met (December 22), the Washington Commanders won 36-33, but Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen suffered a concussion.
It was almost a similar story when Washington won in Detroit last week. The Commanders have no pressure on them, they shouldn’t be here, so they’re playing with house money now, and the Eagles, they feel the pressure, they feel like they have to win now. They lost in the Super Bowl two years ago, so how many more chances do you get?
I think Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels can really break down the Eagles defense. He is very good. He plays not like a rookie but like a seasoned veteran. He looked so comfortable, so calm, so confident. He never seemed confused and showed such precise control of the ball. You can also add in his athleticism – he’s quick and evasive.
The Commanders had more turnovers the last time they met, so they need to take care of the football on offense and stop the run on defense. In that game, the Eagles performed well downfield, with Saquon Barkley rushing for 150 yards and two touchdowns.
His breakaway speed, his vision, his physicality, his athleticism — it’s all there. Barkley can hurt you in a lot of different ways. But if you want to say “We’re not going to let this guy ruin our day,” I think you have to sell to stop the run.
I would apply extra pressure or put more guys on defense, get more guys at the line of scrimmage and then hope Hurts is forced to throw because as we’ve seen from him recently, he’s not really firing . on all cylinders.
Defensively, if the play-callers are as fearless as they were against the Lions and can stop the run, I’d say it’s a win for Washington, which is truly shocking.
