When Samsung said in an Unpacked presentation that the Galaxy S25 series of phones will feature Extend battery lifeI thought, “It needs all these AI capabilities.”
In addition to privacy and Copyright issuesI don’t use AI on my phone or devices because it always makes me do more work. If I ask my digital assistant to set an alarm, I check to make sure the alarm is at the correct time. If I use Assistant to send a message to someone, I read the message before sending it in case I need to edit it.
As for the image creation features, these are novelties that I might use once as a party trick, but then never again – including Apple’s Genmon Temple. I’ve used AI image creation tools a few times at work, but other than that I can confidently say I’ve never used them.
See, all I’m asking for is a switch to turn these features off. It’s not difficult and I’m sure others have asked on online message boards how to turn these features off. Apple has already implemented a switch to turn off the Apple Intelligence feature on its iPhones, so we know it can be done. If there was no way to turn these features off, I would seriously consider buying a new Galaxy phone.
