President Ramaphosa leads delegation to the World Economic Forum – Africa.com | Global News Avenue

President Cyril Ramaphosa will lead the South African delegation to the 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) to be held in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, from January 20 to 24, 2025.

With the theme of “Collaboration in the Smart Age,” the conference will foster new partnerships and insights to shape a more sustainable and inclusive future in an era of rapid technological advancement.

The World Economic Forum convenes global leaders to address key global and regional challenges. These include responding to geopolitical shocks, stimulating growth to improve living standards and leading a just and inclusive energy transition.

South Africa’s innovation and technology are critical to driving economic development and addressing social challenges, aiming to leverage technological advances to promote inclusive growth and enhance global competitiveness. This will be achieved through modernizing industries, promoting skills development and improving public services.

President Ramaphosa will deliver a special speech at the World Economic Forum to introduce the economic priorities of the South African Government of National Unity and promote South Africa’s presidency of the G20 with the theme of “Unity, Equality and Sustainable Development”.

South Africa is committed to using the G20 platform to highlight the importance of promoting economic growth while ensuring social inclusion and environmental stewardship.

During its presidency of the G20, South Africa will work to address systemic differences, promote solidarity and mutual support, jointly address common global challenges, and create fair opportunities for all.

The World Economic Forum Annual Meeting is a valuable opportunity for South Africa to showcase its potential as a global investment hub and the structural reforms underway.

The South African delegation, which includes key government and business leaders, will work with international stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and advance South Africa’s economic and social agenda.

Through these events, South Africa aims to reaffirm its role as a key player in the international community, making a meaningful contribution to discussions on sustainable development and cooperative solutions for a better future.

The President will be accompanied by Mr Ronald Lamola, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation; Eno Godongwana, Minister of Finance; Mr Parks Tau, Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition; Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, Minister of Power and Energy; Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Dr Blade Nzimande; Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies Mr Solly Malatsi; Minister of Fisheries, Forestry and Environment Mr Dion George; Minister of Health Dr Aaron Motsoaledi and Minister of Agriculture Mr John Steenhuisen.
