Para Bobsleigh World Cup: Corie Mapp extends overall lead
Britain’s Corie Mapp looks to retain the overall Para Bobsleigh World Cup title with a 131-point lead in Lillehammer.
Mapp never left the podium in the first six rounds of the season, all of which took place on the same track.
The 46-year-old has won three gold medals, one silver and two bronze medals so far and ended the World Cup season in Norway on Sunday in third place.
The map application is built on Open Gold and Silver in Norway Showing real consistency in four games over the past five days, both sides secured two bronze medals in back-to-back wins.
None of the Briton’s main rivals for the title on Sunday failed to join him on the podium.
Latvian Arturs Klots won the title 0.06 seconds ahead of Swiss Christopher Stewart, with Mapp two hundredths behind.
The bronze medal brings Mapp’s points tally for the season to 1,285, while Klotz climbs into third place with 1,149 points.
Austrian Hermann Ellmauer remained in second place with a score of 1,154, despite finishing sixth in Sunday’s race.
The next two rounds will be moved to Sigulda on January 31 and February 1. The second race at the Latvian circuit will double as the European Championship, which Mapp won last season.
On February 13th and 14th, the World Championships will end in St. Moritz, Switzerland.
