CeMiKa Silicone Sport Straps review: you get what you pay for, but at a price this nice I wouldn’t think twice
CeMiKa Silicone Sports Band Review
The CeMiKa Silicone Sports Bands come in a set of five and come in a range of colours, priced from £8.99 to £12.29, depending on which color combination you buy. I tested a set that included black, gray, pink, red, and pine; but there are also options in neutrals, purple, white, and more.
The amount of colors at this price is definitely a pro here; I found it easy to change the shades to suit my outfit, though when adding some straps to my outfit apple watch I found it took me a few tries as they were hesitant to align at first. Once they’re in, however, they stay put.
CeMiKa Silicone Sport Bands have a slightly rougher surface texture than Apple Sport Bands, and they also feel softer and more flexible in comparison. This more textured surface may be the reason for a minor issue that bothered me when testing and photographing these bands, namely their ability to attract tiny fibers. It’s not the end of the world, of course, but I’ve noticed; the worst offenders are the black bands, who don’t seem to miss any opportunity to pick up lint.
I found the CeMiKa Silicone Sport Band to be easy to attach and comfortable to wear. I generally don’t like these silicone style straps because I don’t think they are breathable. This was further confirmed when I took off my Apple Watch after a day of wearing it and noticed my skin was reacting, just like my official Apple Sport Band. So if you have sensitive skin, you might find it more comfortable to opt for a truly breathable alternative, like the Apple Braided Solo Loop or the Yoohoo Adjustable Metal Band.
Despite its soft-touch feel and flexible design, there are clear signs of the CeMiKa Silicone Sport Band’s lower cost, especially when it comes to metal hardware. I first noticed this on the warm gold fastening posts; there’s a noticeable speckled texture, and looking closely at the silver version, this texture is also present. Now, it’s unlikely that many people will scrutinize the details of an Apple Watch band, but to me, this suggests that this metalized finish may not stand the test of time, but that’s just speculation on my part.
Overall, I’m very impressed with the CeMiKa Silicone Sports Bands – they’re not perfect, but when one can receive five brightly colored silicone straps for less than £12.50, there’s not much to complain about . So if you’re in the market for a cheap and enjoyable alternative to Apple’s official Sport Band, these are certainly worth checking out.
