NFL play-offs: Josh Allen v Lamar Jackson – stats, head-to-head, who is MVP favourite?

Allen emerged from the MVP race with a stellar performance in early December. It all started in the snow against San Francisco, when he became First quarterback to score passing, rushing and receiving touchdowns in the same game.

The following week, he became the first player to catch 3 passing and 3 rushing touchdowns in the same game, then he became the first player to have at least 2 passing and 2 rushing touchdowns in consecutive games. The player who scored a touchdown.

Jackson has thrown for 12 touchdowns in Baltimore’s past four games, becoming the first player to pass for 4,000 yards and rush for 800 yards in the same season.

A panel of 50 broadcasters/reporters subsequently named Jackson a first-team All-Pro quarterback, which didn’t bode well for Allen.

The last time an All-Pro quarterback didn’t win the MVP simultaneously was 1987. The same jury voted for MVP, but Allen remains the favorite.

Voting takes place at the end of the regular season, so Sunday’s game has no impact on the winner, who will be announced during Super Bowl week.

While it’s hard to tell who’s having the best season, Allen’s supporters believe he’s more valuable to Buffalo than Jackson is to Baltimore.

The Bills traded their top receivers this offseason, while the Ravens signed one of the league’s best running backs in Derrick Henry.

Henry rushed for 1,921 yards — second only to Saquon Barkley — and Baltimore’s receiving group was stronger than Buffalo’s, giving Allen more responsibility to get the job done.

The Ravens also had six All-Pro players, while Buffalo had just one in Allen. As Bills receiver Khalil Shakir said, “We let him go.”

Jackson and Mahomes are the only active players to have won MVP awards. Is it time for Allen to join them?
