Major stock and bond markets will be closed Monday to mark Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which this year coincides with the presidential inauguration.
New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Markets will not open on Monday and trading in U.S. bonds will be halted to honor the civil rights leader.
CME Group will suspend trading in U.S. markets, and some of the exchange’s international markets will also be closed for the holiday, according to its schedule. Likewise, CBOE will halt U.S. stock trading on Monday, as well as U.S. options trading from 11:30 a.m. to 8:15 p.m. ET, and U.S. futures from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, according to its calendar trade.
In addition to the holiday on the first trading day of the new year, US President Donald Trump will be inaugurated on Monday to begin his second term as president.
Next, traders will have a day off on President’s Day, February 17.
