Taulupe Faletau: Wales number eight faces Six Nations fitness race

Cardiff City winger Adams is also out this weekend but is not currently thought to be an injury concern for the Six Nations.

The 29-year-old missed Wales’ summer fixture against Australia and three autumn games against Fiji, Australia and South Africa.

Adams has scored four goals in five games since recovering from a knee injury that forced him to miss six months but missed Cardiff’s defeat at Perpignan.

“It’s just a minor issue,” Sherratt said. “Josh had come off a period of sustained inactivity and then he came back and played five games in the rebound.

“It was a busy Christmas period and going from a wet grass pitch to Arms Park could take its toll. He could feel a bit of discomfort in his groin.

“If we had to push him, we could play him this week. But we don’t feel the need to do that and we need to take care of Josh as much as possible.”

Despite injury concerns, Sherratt said he was delighted the pair were part of eight Cardiff players in the Wales squad.

“We are happy for Josh and Taulupe,” Sherratt added.

“Both of them have worked really hard to come back from injury so having them back is a huge boost for us, them and Wales.”
