On January 9, the Ministry of Justice held a 2024 activities evaluation meeting and an outline of the 2025 action plan at the National Federation of Eritrean Workers’ Hall. The president of the autonomous region court, judges, prosecutors, heads of prisons, drug rehabilitation centers and other relevant institutions and representatives attended the meeting.

During the meeting, reports from the courts, the Attorney General’s Office and Legal Services were presented, as well as plans for 2025.

Ms. Fauzia Hashim, Minister of Justice, stressed the importance of such meetings to facilitate communication and achieve desired goals. She highlighted the Ministry of Justice’s ongoing efforts to strengthen justice programs and ensure that the legal system is consistent with society’s values, wisdom and living conditions.

Minister Fauzia outlined priority plans for 2025, including strengthening the ministry’s activities, drafting and finalizing laws, optimizing the use of human resources, strengthening public participation, enriching projects, raising public awareness and advancing the use of technology.

Participants praised efforts to make the legal system more community-focused and adopted various recommendations.

The event also featured a seminar focusing on the geopolitical situation in the Horn of Africa.
