cheap roll up projector screen

this is not LG OLED rollable screen Your dreams, but Ascension may be more within reach. It’s a retractable ambient light-suppressing screen with built-in speakers and an ultra-short-throw projector that makes it look like a piece of furniture when the screen is retracted. TV tech expert Geoffrey Morrison has always been skeptical of ultra-short range, but he thinks the pair might solve some of the problems he’s had. Pricing for the screen has yet to be determined (the projector will cost $2,700), but it will certainly be lower than models like LG’s.

Finally, the roll-up projector screen of your budget TV dream.

Tiny house with big tech

When you’re ready to go downsizing—or don’t have the budget to go big—a tiny home can be an attractive option, especially if it’s luxurious and equipped with the latest smart technology. Our favorite AC Future designer mini-home is the AI-Thu, a modular building (as small as 400 square feet) equipped with smart technology that helps control lighting, heating, cooling, and appliances, as well as solar panels , water circulation system, generation of atmospheric water, etc.

Would you like to spend $100,000 on a mini smart house? We saw the details at CES 2025.

The biggest concern for every potential electric car buyer is how inconvenient charging is, but the Aptera Solar EV is wrapped in solar panels that charge while you drive. Forget those cockroach-looking solar cars of the past, because this electric car is a slim three-wheeler with a swooping design that looks like it’s about to take off into the sky (compared to the drag of today’s electric cars on the road) reduced by 70%). Aptera expects to begin production of the $40,000 vehicle later this year, so start planning whether a constantly charging two-seat electric car might fit your lifestyle.

Dream Chaser X50 Ultra

Robot vacuum cleaners with legs so small they can climb up ledges or fit through cracks in doors.

Roombas and other robot vacuums are popular, but their tiny wheels can be defeated by the tiniest ledge or threshold between rooms. Dreame’s X50 Ultra has two short wheel legs that can be used to overcome very small obstacles. No, it can’t climb stairs, but we’ve seen it conquer small ledges a few inches high. This advancement will cost a whopping $1,699 when it starts shipping in mid-February (pre order $390 off).

Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 rollable notebook

The clever design of a dual-screen laptop

It’s still just a concept, but Lenovo’s new laptop extends the screen upwards instead of folding it (or folding the two screens together) like almost every dual-screen laptop we’ve seen. We don’t have pricing or availability yet – it’s a real product, not just a concept or prototype – but being able to change your laptop screen from 14 inches to 16.7 inches with the push of a button sounds like something I’d like thing.

Renters who want to install a TV but are worried about drilling holes in the wall, your boat is about to sail. Displace TV sticks to the wall using suction cups and consumes battery, meaning you can stick it almost anywhere in your home or office. It comes in different sizes, from a 27-inch model for $1,499 to a 55-inch TV for $4,999, and will ship in spring 2025.

I used suction cups to attach the TV’s wireless OLED to the wall. i will never be the same.

Samsung stretchable screen concept

Horror movies just gained a new dimension

You know the horror trope, where there’s something scary reaching out to you on the screen, and there’s something scary in the world? Samsung has made our nightmare stretch screens a reality—although it could be flowers or the undead intruding. There’s a bulge in the middle of the screen that creates a 3D effect; editor Lisa Eadicicco said it’s a little imperceptible, but it’s there.

Robots mow your lawn and spit out mulch

I’m all for anything that takes the tedium out of daily (or weekly) tasks, and this is the first thing to take the tedium out of one of the most tedious homeowner tasks. Not only does it mow the lawn, it also chews up most debris, including leaves and twigs, into lawn food.

New robotic lawn mowers at CES 2025 can do something no rival can.

LG Signature Smart Instaview

A concept device that puts a camera in a microwave to capture all your TikTok and Instagram posts.

We’ve seen smart kitchen appliances, but none catered to… the influencer crowd? The LG Signature Smart Instaview microwave has a camera built into it that can record videos of you making your favorite dishes – and don’t worry, there are plenty of sensors to check how your food is cooking to make sure you don’t end up with a smoldering mess. There is also a 27-inch HD display and speakers so you can watch TV while cooking. While still just a concept device, Instaview is an interesting look at how kitchen influencers can push technology forward.

Ring second generation

A smart ring that can detect irregular heartbeats to warn you before a stroke or heart attack.

Premium smartwatches have been able to detect atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeats that can prevent strokes and cardiac events) for years, but not everyone wants a smartwatch. The Circular Ring Gen 2, a $380 smart ring that can monitor these AFib events and track other health data, will be available in the coming months.

Add hiss instantly

The SodaStream lets you make fizzy drinks at home, and it was a great idea when it launched. But now everyone is on the move and equipped with a water bottle, so why can you only get fizz in one place? SodaTop is a water bottle compatible lid that carbonates water in compatible containers.

This revolutionary bottle cap lets you make soda anywhere.

Feed me, Seymour

Don’t wait until the soil cracks or the leaves fall off to start. LeafyPod is a smart grower that learns the right regimen for your houseplants and determines if any environmental factors are less than ideal. It then lets the plant express its needs through a mobile app. It can’t do everything – you still have to do what you’re told.
