Hayley Ladd: Everton sign Wales defender from Manchester United
Everton have signed Wales international Hayley Ladd from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee.
The 31-year-old, who can play in defense and midfield, becomes Everton’s fourth signing of the January transfer window.
The Merseyside club has been added Kelly Gago, Martina Fernandez and Emma Watson join their ranks this month.
Ladd has been at Manchester United for more than five years, having previously played in the top flight for Birmingham City and Bristol City.
“I’m really happy to be playing,” said Ladd, who made 90 appearances for Wales. “It’s great to play under a coach who really wants to control the ball.
“In Wales I played as a centre-back for a long time but at Manchester United and Birmingham I played in midfield.
“I love both positions and I hope I can add something to each position and really add a level of flexibility to whatever position I play.”
Everton is currently ninth in the Women’s Super League, four points ahead of Crystal Palace in the relegation zone and 12 points behind fourth-placed Manchester United.
