Boxing: Tyson Fury would be ‘massive favourite’ against Anthony Joshua, says Barry Jones

Former world super featherweight champion Barry Jones says Tyson Fury will be the “big favorite” to face Anthony Joshua if the heavyweight fight happens this year.

British rivals Joshua and Fury have long been linked with fighting each other and have both lost world title fights.

Fury, 36, has said He has no plans to retire follow him lost to Alexander Usyk Jones believes the Gypsy King proved against Usyk that he still has “enough stuff” to contribute to boxing.

“Fury is a huge favourite, but I think overall he’s always going to be slightly more popular (against Joshua),” Jones told reporters 5 Steve Bunce Podcast Live Boxing.

“He’s going to want the Joshua fight because he’s beaten almost every fighter of his generation. It might be a different Joshua, but it’s a different Fury.

“I think having Joshua go down in the history books in the coming years will show how good he was.”

Jones believes the fight will take place at a stadium in the UK, but boxing expert Bunce disagrees.

Joshua, 35, blocked by daniel dubois In their IBF world title fight last September, Fury was defeated by Usyk in a points contest in December.

Bangs said another loss would be a huge blow to both men.

“The loser will lose a lot,” Bangs said.

“Fury can lose to Usyk again, no problem, Joshua can lose to Dubois again, no problem.

“I just think it’s a monumental fight and the loser’s ego will go down a lot.”
