Celtic: Brendan Rodgers won’t ‘bite tongue’ after remarks on fans
Rodgers spoke with Taylor, whose contract expires at the end of the season, about the situation and his future, praising him as a “dedicated Celtic”.
While the Celtic boss did not back down from his previous comments, joking that he expected his eventual successor to be able to “play 95 minutes of high-intensity football, 60 games a week”, he did urge fans to support the team during a busy period.
“I could never tell anyone what to say, what to think, what to sing,” Rogers added.
“I know what my own personal values are and a lot of them are based on respect.
“But for me Celtic support is an amazing support base, what they offer the team, how they support the team and how they travel with the team.
“For me, especially in this period of the game, the conditions on the pitch are a little bit more unstable than normal and the game can be a little slower than normal.
“So it’s not always the player’s fault, that’s how it is sometimes. But for us, it’s that support that really helps the team in a very tough time for us.”
