Australian Open: Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray practise together in Melbourne

It’s a sight few could have foreseen just a few months ago, but now it’s likely to become one of the star attractions at the Australian Open.

Novak Djokovic and new coach Andy Murray trained together for the first time in Melbourne ahead of the first Grand Slam of 2025 on Sunday.

Djokovic announces he’s targeting record 11th Australian Open title and historic 25th Grand Slam title surprise date Longtime rival and friend Murray joined the team in late November.

The two are both 37 years old and were born 7 days apart, but the British three-time Grand Slam champion Murray ended his playing career This follows the hosting of the 2024 Paris Olympics in August.

The former rivals began working together in the offseason after Olympic champion Djokovic parted ways with longtime coach Goran Ivanisevic.

Murray is coaching for the first time since his retirement, and footage on Tuesday showed the former world number one closely following the shots of Djokovic, the men’s record 24-time Grand Slam winner, at Melbourne Park.
