Ollie Lawrence apologises for reaction to Alex Mitchell head clash
Bath center Oli Lawrence has apologized for his reaction to a head clash that resulted in Alex Mitchell being sent off in the Premier League defeat to Northampton.
In the 77th minute, Bath trailed 32-31 and Lawrence took a halftime break. England teammate Mitchell had little time to react and his shoulder touched Lawrence’s chest.
The impact brought their heads together, and Lawrence slowly fell to the ground, covering his face, despite the clear space in front of him.
Referee Anthony Woodthorpe gave Mitchell a yellow card and Lawrence smiled as teammate Finn Russell took the penalty as the Franklin Garden crowd jeered.
Lawrence was not evaluated for head injuries because the collision did not warrant medical intervention based on data collected on the sideline.
