The Australian pair, both 32, clashed heads while trying to catch the ball and former T20 international Sams was taken off on a stretcher.

Bancroft, who Banned for nine months for ball tampering In 2018, while playing for the Australian Test team, he was able to walk off the field despite having a bloody nose.

“Both players are conscious and talking, exhibiting symptoms of a concussion and may have broken bones,” the Thunder said on X.

“Both people have been taken to hospital for evaluation.”

They were replaced by Ollie Davies and Hugh Weibgen, who helped Thunder restrict the Scorchers to 177-4 in 20 overs.

David Warner’s 49 set the stage for Thunder’s fightback and they reached the target in the final ball of the match, with West Indies’ Sherfan Rutherford smashing an unbeaten 39 off 19 balls ball.
