GM, Ford 2024 U.S. sales are best since 2019 | Global News Avenue

Detroit – Both General Motors and Ford Motor Company U.S. new car sales posted their best annual performance since 2019 on Friday after sales were hampered by the coronavirus pandemic and years-long supply chain issues.

General Motors announced that sales will exceed 2.7 million vehicles in 2024, an increase of 4.3% from a year ago. The automaker sold 2.9 million vehicles in 2019.

“Our business is driven by new vehicles in our portfolio that deliver outstanding design and performance, helping our dealers satisfy more customers,” Rory Harvey, GM’s president of global markets, said in a release . We will continue to be strong in 2025.”

Ford Friday report Sales in 2024 will be 2.08 million units, up from nearly 2 million units in 2023. In 2019, the automaker sold 2.42 million vehicles in the United States. In the fourth quarter, Ford sales increased 8.8% year-on-year to 530,660 vehicles.

The automaker said its full-year sales of conventional combustion engine vehicles were up 0.2% from 2023, while sales of electric vehicles were up 38.3% year-on-year.

Electric vehicles (including hybrids and electric vehicles) account for 13.7% of Ford’s total annual sales.
