Plane crash near Fullerton Airport leaves 2 dead and 18 people injured
A small plane crash in Orange County Thursday afternoon killed two people and injured at least 18 others.
The RV-10, a single-engine truck, crashed around 2:15 p.m. PST, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. It happened in the 2300 block of Reimer Avenue near the Fullerton Airport.
The injuries varied, and medics transported 10 people to the hospital, while staff treated and released eight people at the scene, the Fullerton Police Department said. According to a post on X.
The FAA said it would investigate with the National Transportation Safety Board, the U.S. transportation agency regulator.
The location where firefighters rescued was a large warehouse. In aerial footage taken around 2:40 p.m., they could be seen hosing down a dark area on the roof, where smoke was rising from a large hole.
Authorities did not release details of the incident. Witnesses recalled hearing a “loud bang” before running out of the building. Witness Javier Ruiz recalled seeing burn marks on someone’s body and clothing.
“His shirt was burned, his shoes were burned, his face was burned,” Ruiz said. “It looks like something out of a movie.”
Aerial footage showed the small plane parked inside the building.

“Plane crashed in the 2300 block of Raymer Avenue,” the post read. “Evacuation in progress for the 2300 block of Raymer. Avoid the area. PD PIO is en route.”
Rep. Lou Correa, who represents the Orange County congressional district where the crash occurred, wrote in a post to X that workers at a local furniture manufacturing company were injured when a plane crashed into the building.
“A small plane crashed into a furniture manufacturing building in Fullerton, our district. At least a dozen workers were injured. The condition of the passengers is unknown,” he wrote in the letter. Post Posted at 3:23 pm
This is the second known plane crash at the airport in the past two months. On Nov. 25, another small plane crashed into a tree in the 2400 block of Artesia Avenue, about a block from the airport. Recent fatal accidents.
No one was seriously injured in the November incident, according to Fullerton police.
