CES 2025 Predictions
At CES 2024 we saw Exciting technology trends There’s everything from transparent screens to new solutions for taking your house off the grid. We’re back another year to see how these trends evolve over the next 12 months, and what’s new for 2025. We expect these to be the defining themes of the show.
Artificial intelligence and its agents
Artificial intelligence is everywhere At CES 2024, while there were some cool examples of rapidly evolving technology, there was also a lot of empty hype. At CES 2025, we’ll be looking for clear evidence that AI is having an impact on any product it’s embedded in, not just a label on a box or another bullet point on a spec sheet.
At this year’s show we expect to hear a lot about “agent artificial intelligence”, which would put smart assistants at the forefront of device interfaces. This is an idea that technology companies have hinted at many times, and even Experimental subjectin a suggested way It may eventually kill the application. The way it’s been executed hasn’t convinced us that this is the future.
More standalone AI devices may surprise us. At CES 2024, Rabbit R1 and Humane AI Pin unexpectedly stole the show, but then failure to deliver on promises. We’re more likely to see AI integrated into existing products, from TVs to phones snowblower arrive toothbrush.
Last year, we saw the emergence of Copilot Plus PCs with dedicated AI buttons, and expect to see more of them this year. Samsung is known for its “Screens are everywhere“The strategy will be to incorporate AI into its new washers and dryers, as well as wall ovens. At the same time, LG is incorporating AI sensing technology into get into car “Detects and responds to vehicle occupants’ needs while optimizing interior conditions.”
Hot new chips
Although you go to CES expecting to see leaps forward in technology, you also realize that many products will represent the next generation of what you already know. These improvements would not be possible without the work of chipmakers, who design technologies that increase the performance and power of our most commonly used devices.
At the upcoming CES, we expect both Nvidia and AMD to unveil new chips, and expect their partner companies to launch devices with these chips built into them. For Nvidia, that could mean Acer, Asus, Razer, Lenovo and Dell.
Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang will kick off the show with a keynote address, where he’s expected to announce the company’s next-generation CPUs and GPUs, which could be good news for the laptop gamers among us. The company has already teased its GeForce RTX 50 series GPUs online, with more details emerging in a leak about the Acer Predator Orion PC.
Meanwhile, AMD has confirmed that we will see RDNA 4 GPUs at the show. As for Qualcomm, the company holds its big annual launch event back in October, but it usually reserves a few things for CES.
Automotive technology enters the fast lane
Over the past decade, cars have increasingly taken center stage at CES. electric car One of the hottest categories in technology, CES 2025 will showcase the latest future electric vehicles and transportation concepts.
Many of the top automakers will be at CES again this year, unveiling everything from infotainment system updates to new electric vehicles. Hyundai will showcase the world’s first full-windshield holographic display, which will extend from the driver’s seat to the front passenger seat, while BMW will also debut its panoramic iDrive display. Honda has teased two stylish 0-series electric car prototypes that will be unveiled at the auto show.
Traditional technology companies are also seeking a piece of the car market, with Sony rumored to be showcasing a Sony-Honda Afeela car with a PS5 inside. Powers most next generation automotive technology Chip companies such as Qualcomm may announce their own updates at the show.
On the mobility side of the industry, Waymo just announced the expansion of its international operations for self-driving cars into Tokyo and is preparing to outline its vision for the future in a report. Exclusive keynote speech.
CNET Expert Predictions
Many of CNET’s seasoned tech experts will be on hand in Las Vegas, ready for the weird, wacky and wonderful. For most of us, this is not our first rodeo and we go into the show with high expectations. Here are some of our predictions:
David Katzmaier — Personal Technical Editorial Director
I’ve been attending CES and reviewing TVs for over 20 years, and this show is the Super Bowl on the screen. At CES 2025, I expect to see bigger TVs than ever before, possibly surpassing last year’s winner, 115-inch TCL. My favorite things about TV are quirky concepts on the cutting edge of practicality vs. coolness (turning towards the latter), e.g. LG transparent TV and C-Seed’s $200,000 folding Micro-LED TV. At CES, I also saw new, nerd-worthy display tech that surprised even this jaded reviewer, like rollable tv, flip phone, electroluminescent quantum dots, Cutting-edge VR and Shown in contact lenses. I pray CES 2025 will surprise me again with some unexpected futuristic TV technology!
Lisa Eadicco — Senior Mobile Editor
This will be my seventh time attending CES, and like the past few years, I’m looking forward to seeing crazy concepts (like flexible phone screens) bend in different directions); new wearable devices that measure your health in different ways; and plenty of screens everywhere from kitchens to cars. I think artificial intelligence, which has officially become a tech buzzword over the past two years, will continue to dominate in 2025. Last year, we learned how businesses Injecting artificial intelligence to everything from new handheld device arrive Automotive and Home RobotsBut the technology is set to receive even more attention this year. The challenge will be cutting through the hype and finding products that actually use AI to meaningfully improve the way their products work, rather than just using the term to boost marketing.
Eli Blumenthal — Senior Mobile Editor
I’ve lost count of how many CES shows I’ve been lucky enough to attend, but I fully expect to be interested in a ton of crazy concepts, many of which will almost certainly not be products we can buy in 2025 (or buy anyway , at an affordable price). last year we Saw the crazy idea A color-changing BMW and a modern electric air taxi, paired with Samsung’s rollable transparent microLED screen.
Will these be readily available to consumers by 2024? No, but that’s not always the point. For me, CES has become a way to get behind the scenes of R&D and see what some of the biggest tech companies in the world are doing. While these concepts may not be ready for finished devices or store shelves, they give us a chance to see what’s to come. I expect this year’s auto show to be no different, with lots of crazy concept cars, higher quality or larger rollable and foldable displays, and a ton of products that are completely steeped in acronyms like AI, AR, and VR.
Katie Collins – Senior European Correspondent
As for me, I’ve been playing with robots at CES a lot of times – whether table tennis or Cards Against Humanity —I’m excited to see which robots I get to be friends with this year. What I would really like to see is some progress in embedding artificial intelligence into robots to help them transition from performance into the real world, ideally into our homes. It’s a leap they’ve been working toward for a long time. I’m also excited to see how developments in health and beauty technology are giving us more control over our health – e.g. Using artificial intelligence to help diagnose and treat skin diseases. I also keep a close eye on companies that are leveraging technology to improve sustainability and accessibility. Also, I know Delta Air Lines is Las Vegas Sphere This will be a highlight of the show for me.
One of the best things about CES is that despite our years of experience and deep industry connections, the show never fails to surprise us strange and eccentric We never saw this coming. So be sure to follow our coverage Just on CNET The latest news is as we kick off another high-tech new year. See you in Vegas soon.
