Mark Robins: New Stoke City boss targets Premier League football
Following previous success, Robins confirmed he would not attempt to replicate the blueprint he set out during his time as Coventry manager.
“Every club is unique,” he said. “What you can’t do is (say) ‘I did this there’ and ‘I’m going to repeat it there’ because they are two completely different cities, different clubs, different environments, different stages. Development – it’s completely different in that sense.”
He added: “I’m very confident that, given time, we can turn things around and move forward. That’s my skill set and that’s why I’m at Stoke City.”
“After losing my job on November 7, I needed this time to get it out of my system because I had been in Coventry and now I’m somewhere else.
“I’m all in, I really want to give it my all – I really want to move this thing forward.”
While looking to the future, Robins also noted the importance of understanding the identity and culture of a club that still has fond memories of the decade between 2008 and 2018 in the Premier League.
“This is a club that aspires to be in the Premier League. Ultimately, we have to understand the club and push it forward. That’s my job.”
“We need everyone to come together. The motto of this club is ‘Stronger Together’ – that has never been truer.”
