The New Orleans attacks on New Year’s Day killed at least 15 people, including a famous American college football player, an aspiring young nurse and the mother of a four-year-old child.

Their names will be released by their families and relatives until authorities complete autopsies.

Martin “Tiger” Bache

Martin “Tiger” Bech is a former Princeton University football player.

A statement from the university confirmed his death.

“There is no more fitting nickname for the Princeton players I coach,” Princeton football coach Bob Surace said in a statement.

“He was a ‘Tiger’ in every sense of the word – a fierce competitor with energy, a beloved teammate and a caring friend.”

Martin Bech’s brother, Jack Bech, posted a tribute on X alongside a news article reporting his death.

“Brother will always love you!” he wrote. “You inspire me every day and now you’re with me every moment. I have this family T, don’t worry. This is for us.”

Mr. Bech was a member of the 2016 and 2018 Ivy League championship teams.

Nicola Cheyenne Dedo

The 18-year-old is an aspiring nurse.

Her mother, Melissa Dedo, confirmed her death on social media.

“I lost my baby please pray for me and my family!!! God I need you now!!” the mother pleaded, along with a photo of her daughter wearing a red graduation cap and gown this year photos.

Ms Dedo, who is also a nurse, told local outlet Nora that her daughter was due to start training as a nurse later this month.

“She’s a really good kid, man, she’s a really good kid,” she said, adding, “She just lets it all work out and then she’s gone, just gone.”

The 25-year-old audio-visual technician had a “laid-back spirit and infectious laugh” that brought joy to those around him, according to a fundraiser his family has launched in his name.

His mother, Cathy Tenedorio, told NBC News she last saw her son alive at 21:00 local time on New Year’s Eve, adding that she remembered hugging and kissing him .
