NBA: New York Knicks extend winning streak with win over Utah Jazz
The injury-plagued New York Knicks extended their winning streak to nine games with a 119-103 victory over the Utah Jazz.
Josh Hart and Karl-Anthony Towns were outstanding for the Knicks, with the latter becoming the third player in franchise history to score at least 30 points and 10 rebounds in three consecutive games.
The Knicks improved to 24-10 but were without star point guard Jalen Brunson for the first time this season due to a calf problem. Backup guard Myles McBride is out with a strained left hamstring.
The Jazz led 18-8 at one point, but then suffered a five-game losing streak (7-25).
Elsewhere, Nikola Jokic had 23 points, 17 rebounds and 15 assists for his 14th triple-double of the season, and the Denver Nuggets defeated the Atlanta Hawks 139-120.
The Pistons beat the Orlando Magic 105-96 in Detroit, but a potentially serious leg injury cast a pall over the Pistons’ game.
The star point guard scored 22 points but suffered an injury to his left leg early in the fourth quarter when Orlando’s Cole Anthony collided with his leg while scrambling for the ball.
As Ivey was carried off the court on a stretcher, his teammates were visibly upset.
The Toronto Raptors ended an 11-game losing streak with a 130-113 victory over the Brooklyn Nets, while the New Orleans Pelicans fell into an 11-game losing streak with a loss to the Miami Heat.
The Washington Wizards defeated the Chicago Bulls 125-107, and the Sacramento Kings came from behind to defeat the Philadelphia 76ers in California (113-107).
The Houston Rockets returned to their winning streak with a 110-99 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.
