Michail Antonio: West Ham striker discharged from hospital three weeks after breaking leg in car accident
West Ham forward Michail Antonio has been out of hospital for more than three weeks after suffering a broken leg in a car crash.
Antonio, 34 years old, had surgery After lower limb fracture collapse December 7th.
The Jamaica international was trapped in the incident in Epping, Essex, and needed to be extricated from his car and taken to a hospital in central London.
Antonio is West Ham United’s all-time top scorer in the Premier League, scoring 68 goals in 268 league games.
The Hammers forward wore an ‘Antonio 9’ jersey before kick-off in their 2-1 win over Wolves on December 9, and later spoke to his teammates via video call.
The club thanked the emergency and medical services for supporting Antonio and said it would “donate almost £60,000 to the NHS and the British Air Ambulance charity” following the auction of the shirt.
West Ham United said on Tuesday: “Everyone at the club would like to reiterate our heartfelt thanks to the first responders, emergency services, air ambulance crews and the NHS for the difficult support they provided to Mikael following the incident. Confident support.”
West Ham United manager Julen Lopetegui said earlier this month it was a “miracle” Antonio was okay.
