Jhon Duran: Aston Villa striker charged by FA after red card reaction at Newcastle
Aston Villa striker John Duran has been charged with misconduct by the FA after his angry reaction to being sent off against Newcastle United on Boxing Day.
The Colombian was sent off for deliberately stamping on Magpies defender Fabian Schaal during Villa’s 3-0 defeat at St James’ Park.
Villa’s appeal against the 21-year-old’s three-match ban was rejected by the FA.
Duran has now been slapped with an additional charge of misconduct over his reaction to the dismissal as he kicked a water bottle after leaving the pitch and had to be restrained by Villa backroom staff.
Duran has until Jan. 3 to respond. If he is found guilty of misconduct, he could face further costly penalties.
Duran served the first of his three-match ban as Villa drew 2-2 with Brighton on Monday night.
Emery’s side will face Leicester City in the Premier League on January 4 and West Ham United in the FA Cup third round on January 10 in their next two games.
