Police probe pyrotechnics and objects thrown during Dundee United v Aberdeen at Tannadice

Police are investigating the “use of fireworks and thrown objects” at Dundee United’s match against Aberdeen on Sunday.

Manchester United won Sunday’s Scottish Premiership match at Tannadice.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We are aware of the use of fireworks and the throwing of objects during the match at Tannadice on Sunday 29 December 2024.

“Investigations into this matter are ongoing.”

League organizer the SPFL said: “Of course players, staff and other supporters should have the right to attend matches without the risk of being hit by projectiles. The dangers are clear.”

“Anyone found guilty of such completely irresponsible behavior should face criminal charges and be banned from future SPFL matches.

“We look forward to receiving reports from match representatives and seeing what action is taken by Police Scotland to identify and charge those responsible.”
