Deaths of father and son in crash leaves community in shock
A priest in County Armagh says the local community is in shock after a father and son were killed in a car crash.
Peter Devlin and his son Loughlin die when an Audi and a Mercedes collide Friday outside the village of Kililia.
Four other people, including an infant, were taken to hospital.
One woman was seriously injured and is in critical condition.
Fr Sean Moore said the thoughts of everyone in the community were with the deceased’s loved ones.
He also condemned misinformation on social media about the crash.
“This is a terrible shock to the community and the whole community is shocked,” he told BBC News NI.
Father Moore said the Devlin family was well known in the community, where Peter worked as a painter.
The priest said local parishes would pray for the men and their families on Sunday night.
The deaths bring the total number of people killed on Northern Ireland’s roads in 2024 to 67.
Sarah Duffy, the mayor of Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon, described what happened as heartbreaking.
Killilla Road, which was closed following the incident, has now fully reopened.
Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
